Costumers are opting for healthier fast food restaurants.
NEW YORK – In the last 12 months, 70 percent of opinions on US fast food chains were positive, with Subway, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell shining through among the competition and collecting the highest number of positive opinions.
The most loved American fast food chain in the past 12 months was Subway. The sandwich giant collected 82 percent of positive opinions and the main reasons behind why people like to eat at Subway are the fresh ingredients and the fact the costumers have complete control over the preparation of their food.
Better food quality is working for Subway, but some of its success may also be the case of wise management. Not only is Subway the most loved fast food chain at the moment, it’s also the largest in the world. However, the flashy titles aren’t making the Subway corporate suits slow down, as they have announced they will try to rebrand Subway as a coffee shop by changing the layouts and interior design of their restaurants and thus become more appealing to a different type of clientele.
On the other hand, the past 12 months have not been so great for Burger King, which was voted the most hated fast food chain in America. Burger King collected 53 percent of negative comments, with the majority of reasoning behind the negative commentary being the taste of the food and the alienating advertising campaigns.
Another fast food chain that had it rough for the past 12 months is Taco Bell. The Mexican food restaurant was actually the most loved fast food restaurant in the US for the first 6 months of the year, but lost on popularity when a lawsuit scandal over Taco Bell’s beef broke out in California. The woman who filled the scandal causing lawsuit is accusing Taco Bell of falls advertising. She’s demanding the restaurant chain either stops claiming its tacos are made out of 99 percent beef, or start serving healthier food, which will actually live up to its adverts. Taco Bell is still the second most loved fast food chain restaurant in America, but the ongoing scandal has so far cost it a lot of support.
The demand for healthier food options has seemingly spread out above organic food shops and is now affecting even fast food restaurants, as the restaurants that can provide costumers with healthier options are dominating the popularity charts. Also, since the successful Subway are going for a new look in order to not appear to even be a fast food restaurant anymore, it looks like eating low quality food in dingy fast food joints is slowly becoming a thing of the past.
